*class hierarchy in cat foods appears, intentionally or not, to have replicated aspects of European aristocracy in which game is reserved for the grandest (i.e. landowning) tables. Apparently I can, should I so desire, get cat food made with venison, boar, or kangaroo. 3/3

*apparently despite knowing full well that grain-free is largely bullshit and that cats couldn't give a crap about class, purchasing cat food is nevertheless a place where I REALLY have to work to overcome years of conditioning in bougie food bullshit. More so than purchasing food for me.

#SBLAAR25: breakfast is one of the most expensive/inconvenient meals at conferences. on day 1 find a grocery/convenience store near your hotel & stock up on a few days worth of yogurt, cereal, etc. so you can save money & breakfast in your PJs.

You. do. not. have. to. attend. everything.

You will also see people working, or at least pretending to work, during any spare moment. You will feel pressure to do the same. You should resist it. Conferences, even the best ones, are exhausting. It is absolutely ok to rest whenever possible.

Something else you can do is toss a hard cheese rind in the soup while it cooks. And make sure to finish with a splash of acid (I like sherry vinegar best).

Porter, stout, even brown ale will do—just make sure it isn’t very bitter.

This is actually very doable. I do a shiitake and kombu broth, use more sherry than one might otherwise, stir some miso in at the end—and add a can of dark beer when I add the broth.

The only thing is, I don’t want local wildlife to get the idea that they can have human-provided food.

That’s a good idea!

Maybe, or maybe they just got bored. I already have to alternate cycles of churu bites and pill pockets as med delivery vehicles because Faintly eventually gets tired of one or the other.

I was freaking out at first, because Faintly is not out of the woods yet, and I am supposed to be monitoring for any appetite loss. But then Chroma has also left several days' worth in her microchip feeder.
