Ukraine now has not a single power plant that was not hit by missiles, most of them not operational right now. Kiev currently is -13 °C. People are freezing for days, pipes are bursting. And we got so used to the news of the war, that it's not even a front page story any more.

Iran has no internet right now, I've friends there/friends with relatives there, they just can't reach my messages.

I've friends who haven't received answers from their families for the whole week, it's scary

It's an old and obvious pattern. An unpopular president - failing on the economy and losing his grip on power at home - decides to launch a war for regime change abroad.

The American people don’t want to “run” a foreign country while our leaders fail to improve life in this one.

@meredithmeredith.bsky.social Thank you so much for the CCC-talk and that was wonderful!

I loved it, I think we need to have more awareness towards digital privacy and prompt-injection related attacks.

I don't think the potential for LLMs + flashcards for learning is explored enough tbh, this imo is going to be a game changer

There is this limit after which techno stuff is just "cool", but it's useless as a matter of improvement and only complicates things more (I'd argue most people would be better off without a smartphone too!)

like flying cars are terrible in any meaningful metric, where we should be moving away from

There is this thing about transcendence of work, and I think it's being lost, looking at work as anything more than a means to make money, which is very crappy

you know, I really do think e.o.d. firings and layoffs wreck social morale in an incomparable manner, and you've to be very very careful while accepting people in the first place.

afaiui from my friends at google, the company morale is dead in the water

@microsoft.com Heyo!, I'm looking into one of your papers on bitnet distillation huggingface.co/papers/2510....

@mozilla.org is in a very difficult place right now, and Jake is correct, that the overarching fight-from within the community itself, is very toxic

It's wild, mozilla has historically lost customers due to their defence of security, and the reality of the situation with product development is that
An absolutely wild and gutting part of this role is having so many people desperate for you to fail. I know I know tiny violin etc etc. Anyway, new video out later today!

there is a heavy amount of hypocrisy going on with the usage of AI tools and people claiming its useless - or attacking it, with the very same teams also actively using them.

it's kinda emotionally hard to deal with

Before you ask it: Will this be configurable?

Yes. It will. Right now this is the early test version that is being used to prove the idea. Eventually this will be pluggable with your own bullshit generator using WebAssembly and CGI.

This early test version generates LinkedIn-core bullshit:
