Friends have a rescue dog, which had been very poorly cared for and was v v nervous. I thought howling was an important part of helping him settle into his new home. When I visit I howl and he comes to me immediately, sits on me and we howl together. He also howls along to opera

You are way ahead of me! We’ve been talking about how to encourage grandsons’ musical abilities

As I live <300m from Foss, I’m grateful

I wonder what the solution might be? I remember when the floods in York used to have a much greater impact, but, apart from when the Foss barrier failed, things are so much better now. There must be a solution

I hadn’t realised the hosepipe ban was still in place. I drove past Booth Wood reservoir on Monday and was shocked by the low levels

Ouch! Can you keep off it for a few days? I still feel the effects of a sprained ankle 2 years on. I hope you recover speedily

We visited Montacute earlier in the year - loved it. Did a lovely short walk, which I think was called the ladies walk?

I can’t begin to imagine how you live with chronic pain and yet come across so positively on here. All strength to you Tony

Good Morning Hilary and fellow ORCs. I had a disturbed night so not feeling refreshed. Some tasks planned for today that I’m not looking forward to and thoughts about these were rattling round my head. Yesterday I began watching S.4 of “A House Through Time”. Delightful! What a fab programme.

She has a traditional upright piano and apparently there are wool pads that are an important part of mechanism. Piano tuner alerted her.

Ooh! That’s sounds very nasty
November 12, 2025 at 10:18 AM
Thanks for explanation Jude. I don’t think any of our cats experienced this. The behaviour you describe is pretty distinctive
November 12, 2025 at 9:07 AM
I trust there has been an inquest and any offenders named
November 12, 2025 at 8:21 AM
If you have a piano, you need to check that too. I know it seems unlikely but OH tells me it can be an issue

Wasn’t he the Lib-Dem politician who got involved with one of the Cheeky Girls? 😅
November 12, 2025 at 8:15 AM
