I think there is some truth to that in my anecdotal experience. For example, I don't think I've ever even seen a lib try to defend appeasement, but tankies by and large seem to want to defend Molotov-Ribbentrop like their lives depend on it.

Xi wakes up in a cold sweat. He had just had a dream reliving his *very embarrassing* middle school incident. He shudders audibly. Then something clicks: Zhang Youxia saw the whole thing, didn't he? Perhaps he has forgotten? No, nobody would forget something like that. Xi knew he had to act swiftly.

Perhaps I'm overthinking it, but sometimes it feels to me that a portion of the criticism JKR and her books get stems from an attitude that transphobia isn't a sufficient reason to dislike someone.

Is there any word on what he is being charged with? I skimmed a few non-paywalled stuff and haven't found any details.

Everyone knows they're playing a game, and they know you know. It's rubbing it in your face because you are bound by morality, not them, and they cannot distinguish morality from weakness.

Spicy example, and I even feel rather gross by using it since I'm not one to mock the death of any human being, and although that's not what I'm doing, it's a bit close for comfort. My point is to illustrate how brazenly they lay claim to morality while being so evidently "might makes right" thugs.

I know this take isn't new, but my goodness, it's hard to stomach that a major reason behind this absurd, reckless cruelty is just plain childishness.

... shut down others for daring to show emotion, and I don't support that, but there's also something really powerful, I think, about being able to show civility in the face of hate. Best wishes to you.

I can't imagine the scenario where this person deserves this level of good faith, but I must say, I wish responses like yours weren't so rare. I know "civility" tends to have a bad rap in these contexts due to people trying to...
