This guidance was published in August 2020. www.gov.uk/guidance/inv... This link provides further clarification. Our guidance was produced by native white-clawed crayfish officers for Riverfly monitors, most of whom do not have specific licences for trapping or handling invasive species.

Government guidance on invasive non-native species rules in England and Wales, advise that when conducting monitoring and research, if you accidentally catch a listed invasive animal during monitoring, you will not have committed an offence if you immediately release it.
