Finally got the metrics pulled for my server hardware and visualize. Time for the CPU swap then a rewire because I bummed cat5 wire and it's only negotiating to 100 meg. After that, hypervisor install then planning the VMs and VLANs then the prep work is done. #grafana #idrac #homelab

Finally got around to redoing the rack with a buddy's help. Wildly not toddler proof, surely it won't bite me in the ass.

Kubershitty project day 0: physical infra. Step 1: exploit your homeboy with a 3d printer. Print rack mount hardware to hold your router, switch, and raspberry Pis. Make your rack pretty for wife approval, but "pretty" rack management means toddler height cat cables. This surely won't be problematic

Welp. Time to become a different level of nerd. Time to spin up a whole k8s environment. Time to spin up the tinnitus machine and put this 48 core, 256 GB RAM big chungus to use. Gonna have to figure out storage. I have 1tb so I'm gonna have to figure out an expandable option for non OS storage.

The most annoying thing about home labbing is standing up all your services just to decide to re-architect everything every so often so it works better and add new stuff in. Now I have to back everything up so I can blast the OS just so I can poison AIs that crawl my shit and ignore my do not crawl

@microsoft.com hey can you help me with an issue? I got first place in a Microsoft sponsored hackathon and the price was 1 CLEARLY used Xbox One S. It was a 2 person team. That's just not an acceptable prize for the effort that went into such a condition. Along with 1 prize for a 2 person team.

Sometimes you have to have meetings with people that are just weaponized incompetence. Sometimes, they raise a good point for the wrong reason, so you have to spend a few hours rewriting your app and changing logic for a wild ass edge case, but your app is better for it.

My son busted his chin open so we had to go get it glued. Rest of the day is hosed because toddler in pain. He threw up and while I was cleaning him up he looks at me and starts saying "Thank you Daddy" and I just lost it.
