It depends. For commercial buildings doors to the outside have to be able to be pushed from the inside for fire safety reasons. A building converted from commercial use or in a municipality where apartment buildings have the same requirements might have the same requirement.

It's widely available in my part of the US. Your description is more or less on the money - it's more tangy than spicy, and you can treat it like a fancy ketchup. It's got the same amount of versatility, so it's worth getting and using in place of ketchup just to change things up!

Just as a note, 9000 is only metastable. The moment one of the zombies takes a second helping, someone else starves. In practice it's probably considerably less - consider how people hoard supplies if there might be a shortage, and that makes the shortage happen. I'd suggest 6-7k as actually stable.

I'd suggest reading the series Legion of the Damned by William C Dietz. It leans into themes like that - the Legion has cyborg soldiers uploaded from people who were ill, dying, or sentenced to death. The first novel has both a victim of a murder and the murderer himself being turned into cyborgs!

Drownball is incredibly swingy. I did one playthrough where I decided to actually pay attention to it (to get Wakka's ultimate weapon, IIRC) and it goes from being bad because you can't win to being bad because you can't lose.

I think it could work. It's got some of those Evangelion vibes with motherhood themes but it leans into a natural healing arc instead of 'hurt people hurt people'.
You could get some extra mileage with Gundam's themes of real progress relying on people communicating on a human level.

I haven't gone six months on a liquid diet but I 100% know that feeling from frequent hospitalization bouts. Solid food becomes such an incredible feeling and immediate mood and energy boost!
