Another joins the fold

Anyways! Thank you for following me on this little waltz through memory lane. I open this folder of art more than any before it, and admire and smile about my stupid twink who plays with shadows. He's my son, but he's also who I jut out in front of people as me.

Anyways. This takes us up to the end of last year, and since then I've gotten silly stuff, horny stuff, robot stuff...just stuff. Existing as this boy makes me happy.

Somewhere around this time is when I think I fully moved to Zoroark. I've probably never been happier with a character as my "face", but I think this contrast of ref sheets is extremely funny six years apart. I regret how many artists I lost over the transition to bsky! First is vallhund.

@/fermusr4.bsky.social Then things started getting a little stickier. I'd always wanted a sort of found footage type thing, and this actually ended up being a closer angle than I expected, but kinda ruled, like he picked your camera up after the mess. I really like both versions.

@/kra-owo-z.bsky.social is the artist who really first brought Upright Guy Somnus to life, and I still love the definition and tone on this stupid twink. Not having the goofy ass upper arms is probably the main thing, though I think Zoroark with or without hunch rules.

Time goes on, and Pockits has always done really cool stuff with their own OCs, but ultimately, my caring nature turned this big dude into a protector of little guys.

This was supplemented by wanting to give him weaknesses as I thought about how his powers worked. The first, funniest weakness Somnus developed was a fear of ghosts.

I like going really hard on character fears both because fears naturally tend to work that way, and it's funny.

Anyways, early on into this whole thing, the smugness was good. I liked the smugness, but I couldn't really activate a selfish side. Instead, there was a sort of pivot to "bad boy who talks big game."

Getting into this mentality never really worked, so I sort of pivoted. At the same time, I was talking to a friend about what it would look like if a Zoroark wore braids.

I will be at MFF! Which isn't news to most people who would already be following me here. But I am probably going to take lots of pictures with my son and those are gonna go up here probably. Son pictured for example purposes.
