Ahhh I love the few Balto figures that got made. Balto had such cool merch. I used to own the blush ahhh. ATM, the only merch I own is an original storyboard from the scene Balto and his team made it back to town with the medicine

Gosh yeah!! I used to also work in licensed toys in a company. I know the feeling of when the customer doesn't appreciate the hard work a manufacturer does. This post made me realize that artists should respect their manus more! Like you said, they are human and work hard for us!

Thank you Liz! 🥺❤️

I've seen it on the rise and it always makes me feel weird.. they'll use words like "everything handmade by me with love" but then fail to credit the manufacturing for all their hard work.
November 29, 2025 at 2:13 PM
That's so true! There needs to be more appreciation for manufacturers 😭

I absolutely love your mindset ❤️ They really do help us artists make our product ideas into a reality, so they definitely need the appreciation!

You are reading my reply incorrectly. I never said anything was fraudulent for stating there are small errors because of the nature of factory work. I was on the artist's side for saying that. When I mentioned "it's not OK to say it's handmade" since artists imply they made the plush themselves.

Almost every product is created by a human whether it's aided by machine or not. That's not the point of this post. There are artists that say "handmade by me" which implies they made the entire product themselves in-house when in reality, they only designed it.

Oh! That's such a solid and easy way to answer that! I know at cons, things can get so busy and chaotic, so I totally understand it an artist autopilots and just says "Yeah I'm the artist!". I really like your way of saying it!

I'm seeing AI garbage being labeled as "handmade" big time in the dog world 😭 I literally can't escape it.

Same! Factory produced merch has opened up the possibility for artists to produce more types of merch which fans ultimately enjoy! Nothing wrong with it. It's only weird when I see artists say stuff like "All my merch is handmade myself with love" ahhh
