Thoughts my own.
Reflexively reposted this (bad, I know) but then read it. Just heartbreaking—their ecology’s ravaging and, with it, the loss of their freedoms to extractive industries. These are things we must not look away from to ensure they inform our choices.

“Permitting reform,” in the 119th Congress should be defeated, not negotiated.

The political conditions are far too fraught & far too many Democrats are frankly feckless or entirely bought into energy industry & Big Tech interests, not the public interest.

People, we gotta organize & fight.

To state the obvious, the obstacles to action are far more straightforward & obvious: Trump, fossil fuel companies, Big Tech companies, their army of energy lobbyists, bullshit DC think tanks, & unimaginative politicians who fail to see the terrain we must set for climate action.

“Permitting reform,” as conceived & understood, is short-sighted, misplaced, & reactionary nonsense that will degrade, not speed (ironically), decarbonization and a just energy transition.

It is predicated on the false conceit that environmental safeguards + the public are obstacles to action.

Congress’ reductionist approach—fixated on the swarms of energy, tech, & corporate lobbyists + corporate-friendly think tanks that saturate DC—has swept aside ecological and community values & priorities. That deadly omission isn’t even acknowledged in media coverage.

Which speaks volumes re: this Congress’ regressive capacity to make climate, energy, and ecological challenges enduringly worse.

Ack. I stand corrected.

Now, he's a backer of Abundance along with the likes of Peter Thiel & Koch Bros.' Stand together.

Arnold supported Sen. Mike Lee's plan to sell off public lands as a test "abundance," an idea that backfired badly. Because people love their public lands.

These things are all related.

I saw that, and linked to it below! Got a laugh out of it.

Yes, though Arnold made his name and wealth as a finance bro working for Enron trading natural gas derivatives and as a hedge fund manager focused on the energy sector.
