"Don't You Love It Here?" is being made explicitly outside of genre limits, but would best be described as an open-world immersive life-sim sandbox with RPG elements. From a first person view, live out your life in this reactive town inspired by suburban Texas.

Here's a mockup I made of a new inventory menu, I'm trying to make it something that could actually exist ingame

I was looking for flashlight pics and stumbled onto the flashlight wiki. They have a current events page

The big sticky note

There's too many NPCs at the moment so I programmed a quick simple fix

Reminder that I have a Discord server for my games where I post more updates. I also sometimes post early builds of the game and am always down to talk

I always liked the foreword to the JTHM Director's Cut

My goal for the first demo release is to get the NPCS and world to a functional and autonomous state. Nail down the life sim aspects of the game before start going into the RPG side of things and really build out the world in my head

The new Fable game looks interesting. I've never played any of the games but if it wasn't clear enough I have a fascination with simulated worlds, I might try them out sometime

The NPCs now get hungry and seek out food (and shit). Next bodily function to add is sleeping

I think my friend might be onto something.

Researching for my game

Done with optimizing for now, the performance still isn't amazing but it's much better. I may get back to it eventually but honestly I've kinda accepted the game won't run perfect at times. Now I can start working on the interesting stuff again

I finally took the time to get rid of all errors. I'm free

The biggest bottleneck in the game right now is by far the animations, been working on optimizing them and adding LODs. Once this is done I'll be able to get back to actually expanding the game

I've wanted to do a road trip killing-spree game for years, but never had an idea compelling enough to justify itself. Driving alone on the highway stopping only to whack some people is a pretty inherently unappealing and boring concept but I got some ideas now
Just finished watching Badlands (the 70s movie not the new Predator). Amazing film, great performance from Martin Sheen. This reignited an idea I've had bouncing around my head since before DYLIH

Just found this post and now I think I gotta watch it. Everything I've seen from Takashi Miike is batshit insane in a way I don't see often, he goes places that most refuse to. Ichi The Killer is a big creative influence for me

It's hard trying to do a scathing satire of modern American life when life itself is already parody. I hope this game remains a hypothetical

I'm not sure what that NPC is doing

The album's really wormed its way into my brain, Die Alone and Dead To Me have been stuck in my head
My copy of Foetus' new record Halt has arrived. I really liked it, it's very cinematic and possibly his most introspective album. I love the rock and metal songs, reminds me of 2000s metal. It's a fitting end to his run of main Foetus albums
