Despite me having this context and personal story with drag, I can still see why trans women wouldn't be huge fans of it. There are many facets of drag that seek to mock trans femininity. The fact that some trans women feel safer staying within mockery just means it's safer to play it as a joke.

like here's a demographic of largely cis men who perform transfemininity for the entertainment of largely cis people and here's a demographic of women who are trans who don't like it when you consider their femininity some kind of farce for Obvious Reasons.
