❄️🎿🏂🏅Going for Gold!

These youth in Providence are taking advantage of our “Snow Means Go” program, which promotes the recreational opportunities presented by untreated trails and paths across Rhode Island for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and even ice mountaineering. Way to go!

With the Washington Bridge now confidently on “Autopilot” a feature one of our contractors assured us is completely real and even showed us the button, DOT will be redirecting all of its resources, indefinitely, to monitoring (and punishing, if necessary) dear departing Director Alviti’s detractors.

To salute dear Director Alviti’s retirement and to celebrate his career, all highway lights, street lamps, and traffic signals will go dark at the stroke of midnight in his honor.

Thank you, Director! 💡

SAFETY REMINDER: It is a rainy day, which is a further reminder of the danger pedestrians face in adverse conditions. ☔️

Because cars provide shelter and protection, we encourage everyone to drive to their destination, no matter how short the distance, when conditions for walking are unfavorable.

Large vehicles like buses take up precious space on our roadways. To reduce congestion, we are working collaboratively with RIPTA.

Starting Sat. Sept. 27, RIPTA will reduce bus service by up to 20%, freeing up valuable roadway space for the motoring public. Learn more: www.ripta.com/servicechang...

🪄Transformation Tuesday!

2023>2025 Sometimes trees like these can get in the way of the views of the many scenic highways and byways we have built to bring you to places like other highways.

This transformation on I-95 at Elmwood Ave. really lets you marvel at our beautiful highways.

We have learned that a local business is leaving its HQ along RIDOT’s scenic Newport Ave. in Pawtucket.

It’s hard to come to any conclusion for this decision other than the road is under-sized.

As a result, we will be siezing adjacent homes and adding additional travel lanes in both directions.
September 9, 2025 at 1:48 AM
Due to ongoing congestion concerns on I-95 through Providence, an emergency lane will be added through the Providence Place Mall parking garage.

What a summer! 😎 Whether you were sitting in beach traffic or crawling along 195 next to the bridge that almost collapsed, RIDOT was with you every step of the way.
