Hello, person who clicked on my profile! Here is where I bicycled in the Before Times. Maybe someday, let's hope, I can add to this. In the meantime, hang around for ... well, that would be spoilers.
With my big 20-hour alternate-reality radio project* in the can, finally got out there for a decent 40-mile ride today, helped by temps near 60F. Better yet, nothing bad happened, so my grumpys took the day off for a change ... which means you get an unspicy selfie.

You haven't lived (and probably taken a nap partway through?) till you've rendered a nearly 20-hour audio file. As the file says partway through, "Stand by for awesome." 🎙️💽

The research I do! Trying to find the specific 12" mix of Strangelove that I once owned on vinyl and played on actual radio; apparently there are *145 releases* of it!? Finally found "my" version, but only buried in a 30-minute vinyl-to-mp3 copy of the whole 12-inch -- but that's good enough for me!

It's a luxury loo only if it has a bacon dispenser. Otherwise, it's just a sparkling toilet.

Quite possibly the most legendary news theme of all time (and not just in Philadelphia!), "Move Closer to Your World" is available in its original vocal version on a new limited-edition *vinyl* with two unreleased versions on the B side. Also available digitally.

Woke up to a wonderfully delightful shock/surprise: ABC AU have early-released the 2025 Christmas episode of ... yes ... Guy Montgomery's Guy Mont Spelling Bee! Check your Usual Sources. 😉

Took advantage of the holiday to explore the long-awaited new road to Tech Ridge (former StG airport) and got a big surprise when I found it's now fully paved. Despite another crappy sleep night, this was a suitably robust *and fun* ride!

A new Guardian survey of "the best" dystopian TV dramas about AI gives some love to Years and Years, which has become uncomfortably prophetic in the years since RTD wrote it. An excellent miniseries that doesn't get nearly enough attention.

New today, one of my Buzzerblog friends @meplaysgamesyt.bsky.social has written this entertaining and informative deep dive into game show history -- specifically, times when the shows have had to clean up the mess after judging and production errors.

With near-perfect cycling weather, had my "best" ride in many weeks. After the emotional rollercoaster of the past week (mostly self-inflicted, I might add), this weekend has had a "healing" vibe, and I can feel a new project starting to take shape in my weird (but cute and huggable!) head.

For fans of student-produced TV news, and/or of SW Wisconsin history, here's the first 3 minutes from April 1987 of a local news broadcast on the TV station of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, covering the destructive fire at historic Rountree Hall.

Got out there today between the storms for 26 quick miles so I could chalk up at least one ride and, let's hope, at least one attention. 😇

Not linking to the FB post, because it’s revolting. AI shouldn’t be used to make disabled performers "do" things they never could, especially not Bill Cullen, whose entire career was shaped with deep care around his polio. As someone who grew up with Uncle Bill, this crosses a line you don’t cross.

Added a few more miles back today, despite the tummy still not being fully happy. Looks like I can probably squeeze in one more tomorrow morning before this atmospheric river begins to dump on us, as long as I start early enougzzzzz.... 🛌⛈️

Did you watch this week's #HardQuiz? Tom gave us a tiny peek behind the curtain when he held up one of his question cards right after delivering the pre-written joke on it. Yes, of *course*, the gag is pre-written, and it's even helpfully labeled "GAG."

From 25 years ago this month, a playlist from the short-lived but fondly-remembered "radiomontana" internet stream in November 2000, hosted on Live365. It played a tasty mix of eclectic pop, rock, progressive, and more from the '70s to the '00s, with a dose of wild tracks for spice (Will Powers!).

Five dentist visits in the past three days. Bills to match. Half my mouth still numb. Stomach churning with antibiotics. But barring any more emergencies, my next visit isn't until January 5. Despite the "realness" of this difficult week, the real work begins then. This calls for a celebration ride.
