I hear all that and I belong to a minority group where the youth may rely on social media in a number of ways. However the costs outweigh the benefits.

This is like saying quitting smoking comes at the cost of looking "cool" and the pleasure of inhaling smoke. Social media is destroying the minds and lives of young people. The ban should have been extended to cover everyone up to at least the age of 18. We'd all be vastly better of without it.
