Took me a while but I now only moderately dislike mine. They feel clumsy and get in the way. But they are great as the cumulative elevation racks up.

Yup! Was wearing fairly battered trail shoes as we finished with 6km of road. Wore good grippy fell shoes the next day which was niiice.
