Nothing but Blue Skies do I see

Iowan, Bears fan, cat lover. Political sometimes, but trying to be good to people.
It would also help if certain tech overlords I don’t need to list did not come off as over-the-top, constantly monologuing D-list comic book villains who want to use their shiny tools to put everyone out of a job.

There’s clearly very exciting applications of these technologies.

It’s irritating in the extreme to have LLMs pushed as the solution to every problem. I suppose when you have a trillion dollar hammer to sell, it’s vital to convince everyone you can that every problem is a nail.

Surprised he didn’t recommend green coffee bean extract or Garcinia cambogia. (I used to work in a natural foods retailer, and I remember well the Dr. Oz weight loss fads of the minute.)

I have to say, it’s cold comfort that you’re dealing with the same global reactionary, nativist frothing temper tantrum.

I’m sure you just need a student and a faculty sponsor to start a chapter. Wouldn’t be so controversial, perhaps, if the same people pushing this “free speech” didn’t menace, intimidate, and shun anyone who dares to step out of line and voice any opinion left of center.

Calm down, Gus! OK, that’s actually quite insane, carry on, Gus.

Our roads are much lower in elevation than the Blue Ridge Mountains but they are still nice. They are country roads, just not as much to look at

It’s a very, very different thing to maintain jus sanguinis citizenship in a country that has always had it, than it is to eliminate jus soli citizenship in a country where it’s been the law of the land for 160 years.

He’ll always be one of the best people who ever held the office, and I’m inclined to say the single best person.

Yeah. There’s tremendous leeway in Article III, it’s just building popular support for these reforms that’s so daunting.
December 7, 2025 at 3:22 AM
I wholly agree with application of the law, equally, to all those who fall under its authority. It just seems as if the critical mass of citizens who believe “equal justice under law is important” has been corroded by some processes and technologies that few of us foresaw.

This gives me a massive headache, but if we take off the law hat and put on the political theorist hat, do you think there is a way out of the competitive authoritarian cycle of recriminations and purges? One within the bounds of the Constitution - particularly the requirements for amending it?
