I get that the high end stuff will come with loads of numbers, and stuff about screen resolution, pixels etc. I'm paying under £250. Treat me like I'm either 5 or 85.

Although I will say TVs could do gain a lot of market share with similarly inept people by just explicitly saying "yeah, this comes with Netflix, Prime, Youtube, Disney, whatever big apps either pre-installed or downloadable."

I know it's repeated ad nauseam, but this is a sector we are really good at and had a big competitive national advantage in. Get some people in DfE (particularly at MoS level) who actually feel this rather than occasionally trot it out as a nostrum, and who have detailed knowledge of the sector.
