I loved that game. Probably the only game that made me laugh as much as Monkey Island.

It would have worked first time with Linux! I mean, you wouldn't be able to access any files due to permission problems that would require the input of Linus Torvalds himself to solve. Security of the kernel and all that. But the card would work. Not every time you plug it in. But often.

It's like something a female secret agent would have in a '60s TV show. Shame Nintendo couldn't make the display wobble like it was put on afterwards.

Sci-fi idea: Overclocking your PC, you are accidentally electrocuted and transported to a parallel universe. Everything's the same except that the other you's family bought an Amiga rather than PC. Obviously, her personality is different from yours. Ultimately, you have to team up to save the world.

I've no idea how it happened, but that data got corrupted in the BIOS settings on my first 386. I had to take it back to my friend's dad who sold it to me so that he could set it up from scratch. Make a note of those numbers! (unless they're written on the front of the drive and match)

So, an Amiga with a 3.5inch floppy wouldn't be of any interest?

I've never seen diagonal lines due to monitor / camera frame mismatch before. You're twisted.

It would be good if you could vary the fan sound for greater emersion when playing a flightsim.

Aww... I had the BBC Micro version, and it was the main book I learned BASIC from.

The few times I've tried to do a level / polish I always try to get away without doing the full tape-up, and I always end up scratching the fretboard. Making a protector out of cereal box cardboard doesn't work. If my Squire Bullet Strat turns out to be valuable, I'll be kicking myself.

EGA isn't bad. I'd take an ST or an Amiga over it, purely in terms of the graphics standard. However, you could end up with EGA in an otherwise fairly nice PC (HD, sound card) and feel lucky to have it as your daily driver. For the same amount of money, I'd rather have an upgraded A500 though.

It's because the texture below is on a surface that's at approximately the same height as the floor texture. From some angles, it pokes through.

Sounds pretty good. I had the Maxi ISIS from that series with the external I/O box. Unfortunately, it never got drivers beyond Windows 98. The snag was that the latency was sky high, so it was no good for software synths.

If you told me in '88 Jasper Carrot would be in that kind of trouble, I'd be shocked.

Make a nostalgic text adventure on that subject, the sort that builds up each scene with draw commands. "Mike, I'd be teary-eyed making the Tandy logo on graph paper. It's probably best to never attempt it."

Look, they wouldn't have included that old mic with your Soundblaster Awe64 unless it was good.

You don't want to know what it said on the copy I got of that game :-D

And yet, Fallout 76 seems to completely abandon the 50s futurism / Americana.

I'm currently doing a playthough of Fallout 1 using Fallout Community Edition on Linux.
