I mean... at my "dayjob" i'd be usually forced into windows+visualstudio+cpp with whatever proprietary engine it happens to be - all of which very similar to one another, ECS based. Anyway, hence this is a bit of a breeze of fresh air.

Except that nobody ever disputed the region? I don't think this is relevant..

Alright, so in this instance it was a guess. And my point about you not knowing who is or isn't authorized still stands, especially in countries where other large retailers do not have business. End retailer usually isn't a "partner" - the bigger fish above them is. Often a nameless warehouse.

You you are correct, that's what I call using "common sense" & "with grain of salt" when viewing any information online or irl. That said, you are also speculating in your opinion ;p

We simply don't know, this may or may not be somewhat accurate price (with 2x margin for distribution and retailer).

Well, it's different, most game engines from the usual suspects to most of the proprietary engines, are ECS. It does pose some challenges when you're stuck in your old ways, but other than that, actually quite pleasant experience on Linux, debugging works like a charm with Rider, etc.

(And substitute "valve" with "manufacturer" for that matter - in case of valve it's a speculation.)

No small store is partnered, that's now how distribution of goods works hun. To put it bluntly, Valve ships to a big regional warehouse which ships to small stores.

Okay, and Amazon does NOT exist in the eastern europe, it's pretty simple. You can see Steam Deck sold by that "random czech store" or by several other *reputable* random czech stores. It's normal. Amazon isn't everywhere.
January 10, 2026 at 10:32 AM
(You see, people in eastern europe do not use amazon or any other major online store, people use these "random" stores as you say.)
January 10, 2026 at 10:22 AM
I'd like to know how would you know who is or isn't "valve authorized retailer" for a new product that isn't on the market yet and Valve has not released any statements directing consumers to any retailers at all yet.

And it's not "some random czech store" it's simply a store same as Amazon.

They mean "industry wide greed" from where I stand, as a former senior developer happy to be as far from Ubisoft as possible.

The lowest salaries for the devs, but the upper management is happy to take a few mils here and there - for pushing only the worst game design decisions onto devs.

Very cool :)

Same... Royal Enfield 650 Bear or Honda Rebel... TCMax is the closest thing to the scramblers so far. If only it had type2 charging...

Doesn't look like a bike "enough" - the chonky battery could have been hidden a little bit better.
