Children of Tax and Tea is now live on Kickstarter! It is a full-color, illustrated, hardback humorous history book about the vikings written in the charmingly profane tone of a foul-mouthed Bostonian.

Massachusetts runestone (authentically dated to 1960).

As all good runestones do, it stands by the roadside and proclaims its glory to all who pass it, which are mainly visitors to the Scandinavian Cultural Center in Newton because that’s whose lawn it is on.

Oh, what a lucky man he was! The knight here, that is. Exploring The Lore of the Land. This is not a straight read-through sort of book, but certainly a beauty to behold and to browse. English brown ale optional but definitely recommended.

Not a single Norse myth retelling in sight on the local Barnes and Noble mythology retellings table! The display sure could benefit from some Impudent Eddas and also some Witch’s Hearts.

Today is a good day to admire the Torslunda Plate depicting a man holding an axe and the end of a rope that is keeping a beastly animal in check. (Beastly animals really needed to be held in check during the Vendel Period).

This is the almighty Solbärare, the Bronze Age sun-bearer of Norrköping, Kingdom of Sweden. He comes straight outta Östergötland and is an inspiration to us all. scandinavianaggression.com/2024/09/here...

It's worth going to Manchester to see the original, for its size and for its rather splendid Vikingesque frame, rarely shown in reproductions and hard to see in this image from their website too manchesterartgallery.org

The Funeral of a Viking.

This is Frank Bernard Dicksee’s classic 1893 painting of a dead viking burning on a boat being pushed to sea. It’s now displayed at the Manchester Art Gallery.
