I feel sorry for my dad, but he’s used to it and keeps himself busy with so many interests, including meeting up with former RN officers for events, dinners, and lectures. Otherwise he’d lose his mind.

Oh I wish it could be attributed to that - this has been going on since I was a kid. She gets very personal and doesn’t understand that words can’t be taken back. I was called everything you can imagine. Even when I said I won’t come back to the house again, she later asked “ when is James coming?”

It’s my mum - my dad had the patience of a saint and is the most easy to be with person, kind and gentle. She’s a wrecking ball. Ticks all the classic narcissistic traits.

It’s brilliant isn’t it? I love how you think it’s just two or three reasonably common garden birds, then something a little rare pops up.

Thanks, I have managed to catch myself picking up on any of those traits, but in my younger years I was more prone. Thinking before speaking is the key.

They’re a bit big and bulky, but I have wide feet with a high arch and finding shoes that fit is a nightmare. I opt for comfort over cool! I have no choice!

Thanks Heather - it’s like trying to open a locked door, I’m trying to speak kindly and rationally to the person who I came from - and she’s just calling me the most horrible names….for nothing. If someone calls me a waste of space, then it’s time to draw a line.
