playing hollow knight for the first time starts by feels like standing in a dimly lit room in an old haunt. and then by the end you’ve turned on the lights and realise you’re standing in a cathedral. and then bam, credits, at the peak of that feeling.

i think hollow knight is one of those games that reveals itself to be “””a rare game””” with more and more distance, and that synced well with the wait for silksong.

the thought of ending up with - after years of gruelling effort - “oh no i accidentally made super metroid but worse and 30 years too late” is terrifying.
