That’s what kings do, isn’t it? Look over their kingdom, fantasize about a bigger castle/ballroom for themselves, one that the peasants can only envy…? He’s getting rid of the middle class - this is what we’re heading to.

Emperor - good word! But I’m now leaning towards ‘pharaoh.’ You know, the gaudy gold he wants in his palace, the religious/ruling power, the stripping of civil rights, his disdain for immigrants (except when he has a job for them), the 3rd term/dynasty dreams, concubines… it all fits.

‘Wildly inappropriate’?! Appropriate behavior is the last thing on display from this entire administration. If appropriate behavior were truly their concern, we’d still have some presidential norms in place, checks and balances, a shred of mutual toleration… the list goes on.

Gifts are free. They don’t come with a billion dollar price tag to renovate. This is not a gift. It’s a hand-me-down fixer-upper that 47 wants (and wants to waste taxpayer dollars on) because he is jealous.

Thanks for this - love this group and song, which I had forgotten about. Beyond the hope of the song (we can make it happen), it makes me remember that we used to actually have dialogue, the exchange and consideration of others’ ideas and perspectives. I fear that is gone today, and I miss it.

Not doing his job - there used to be consequences for (in)actions. Looks like DOGE has some actual waste, fraud and inefficiency to get rid of.

Yes. I’ve been saying this, too - they want people poor, sickly and uneducated. Creating a peasant class desperate for work. I miss the days when we took pride in our innovation and education, as well as our compassion and generosity.
