As a months-long blockade by armed groups is finally lifted, the IRC is responding to huge needs in Léré, northern Mali.

Food insecurity driven by the restrictions was exacerbated by severe flooding last year. The IRC is currently the only NGO operating in the area. www.rescue.org/press-releas...

"What we're seeing in Gaza today is a distribution that goes against every principle, every good practice of modern humanitarian aid. It's unsafe and dehumanising... It's insufficient and inadequate."

The reckless and illegal killing of civilians waiting for lifesaving aid in Gaza must end.

No one should have to risk their lives seeking food, water or medical care.
July 21, 2025 at 7:06 PM
Recent reports of children in Gaza being killed while waiting for nutritional supplements and drinking water are horrifying. The reckless killing of children is plainly illegal.

We call on all parties to the conflict to uphold international humanitarian law and protect children’s lives.

The international community must:

➡️Send aid where it matters most. Focus on the hardest-hit areas, based on real needs.
➡️Strengthen partnerships between donors, NGOs, and local groups.
➡️Invest in smarter funding. Flexible, multi-year funding is essential for responding to fast-moving crises.

“Every hour counts. It’s an absolutely abominable level of suffering inside Gaza and it’s a preventable level of suffering... What counts now is not language, it’s actions to address the situation."

IRC President & CEO David Miliband speaks to @yaldahakim.bsky.social .social on @news.sky.com:
