A barebones VRoid can be very stiff and boring, but there's a HUGE ceiling and paths to take for customization due to their 3D nature. Ull see all manner of crazy stuff out there, Im sure ull find what u are looking for soon 🔥

There definitely are work-arounds for a lot of things! There is a way to make meshes look more "alive", not just the PNG look... sadly this would require Unity at the very least to my knowledge

But if u are looking into having a normal VRoid, this means only textures, no further editing nor animations like I do mine, u should be more than fine

I have a very low end PC, yet it can run my models no problem when my L2Ds struggle, so I would say VRoids are easier to run if the model is simple
As Hecka said, I overly customize mine with Unity, and have found that the more assets u add, the more intense running the model will get
