H.R. 589 should never see the light of the committee chamber, let alone the House Floor. To call this legislative markup lawmaking is laughable. It’s the House GOP spending taxpayer dollars doing Donald Trump's bidding and stoking terror for their own constituents.

One of our fundamental freedoms is the right to an attorney, a fair trial, and our day in court when our rights—including our reproductive rights—have been infringed. With his attacks on lawyers, law firms, and courts, Donald Trump is doing his best to put that out of reach, too.

Abortion care can often be critical to lifesaving care in medical emergencies. The right to access that emergency care is protected by law (EMTALA). Instead of defending the law and protecting pregnant patients, Trump's DOJ dropped the case, putting countless lives at risk.

Also at HHS, the policies protecting the public’s right to comment on proposed rules and regulations, including those that govern their reproductive health care system, are being rolled back, silencing your voice in the regulatory process.

HHS, including CDC and Medicaid, have been all over the news, and those cuts are also harmful to reproductive health. Entire CDC fertility care and maternal health teams have been tossed out, and proposed Medicaid cuts would devastate family planning and maternity care access.
