Despite billions of dollars in contingency funds available to fund the program, the Trump administration has chosen to use hunger as a political weapon by refusing to release these benefits that over 42 million Americans – including 16 million children - need to survive.

Her trailblazing service is unparalleled in American history, and I know she will continue her tireless advocacy over the next year and throughout her well-deserved retirement.
