Representative Jim McGovern
@repmcgovern.bsky.social
Lisa's husband. Patrick and Molly's dad. Proud to serve the 2nd Congressional District of MA. Co-Chair of the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission. Top Democrat on the House Rules Committee. Hunger is a political condition.
This stunt is projected to cost taxpayers $2 billion. That’s twice as much as what we spend on veteran suicide prevention. Priorities.

You don’t spend hours war-planning in the Situation Room on a “hoax.”

Trump says he doesn’t “want to hear about affordability.” But I do.

Haven’t heard him talk this passionately about lowering the cost of living…
November 13, 2025 at 6:36 PM
Building ballrooms is his greatest strength. Running the country & lowering costs? Not so much.

He should have stuck to tacky home renovations.
November 13, 2025 at 5:05 PM
There shouldn’t be an affordability crisis in the richest country in history.
November 12, 2025 at 11:15 PM
Republicans took an 8-week paid vacation—then came back to screw working people.

They voted against feeding hungry kids & lowering healthcare costs. But don’t worry—they voted in favor of Trump’s $40B Argentina bailout.

Corrupt. Cruel. Cowardly.
November 12, 2025 at 11:15 PM
Republicans thought they could get away with sneaking a massive slush fund for pro-insurrectionist senators into their corrupt funding package.

They’re giving themselves a million dollar payday while hiking your healthcare costs.
November 12, 2025 at 10:29 PM
If you are fed up with the status quo that only works for those at the top, Republicans aren’t fighting for you.

We are.
November 12, 2025 at 9:59 PM
See those 8 empty seats? That’s where Republicans should have been sitting.

But they didn’t even have the decency to debate us while taking healthcare away from millions of people after they shoveled tax break after tax break to billionaires.

Lazy, heartless & cruel.

Today, we honor the brave men and women who’ve worn our nation’s uniform—protecting our freedoms, defending our democracy, and inspiring us all to serve something greater than ourselves. We owe you a profound debt of gratitude. Thank you for your service. 🇺🇸

Great to be in Worcester for the 50th anniversary celebration of The Cultural Center Hrisohorafiton—an incredible organization dedicated to preserving Greek heritage in our community. Wishing them another 50 years of cultural exchange, education, and community building!

Today I joined @trahan.house.gov & the United Way of North Central Massachusetts to hear directly from local food pantries and service providers about how Trump is making hunger worse in North Central MA.

Food should be a fundamental right this country!
November 8, 2025 at 12:45 AM
While too many in Washington want to demonize poor people, I’m proud that here in Massachusetts, groups like Making Opportunity Count are rallying our community in support of those in need. Great roundtable w/ @trahan.house.gov & other local leaders to discuss their work today.
November 7, 2025 at 9:59 PM
There's something wrong with our country when on the same day that Elon Musk gets paid a trillion dollars, the Trump administration appeals a federal court order that requires them to fully fund nutrition assistance for poor people.
November 7, 2025 at 8:29 PM
Trump's record in four photos: Cowardice. Collapse. Chaos. Corruption.
November 7, 2025 at 7:14 PM
During my visit to the Central Massachusetts Veterans Support Inc. food pantry, Anne Marie told me they’re seeing a “drastic increase” among veterans and active-duty service members.

Some in Washington are cutting nutrition assistance & leaving our veterans behind. It’s shameful.
November 6, 2025 at 10:20 PM
After bravely serving our country, many of our veterans can't even afford food.

Today, I helped stock the shelves at the Central Massachusetts Veterans Support Inc. food pantry in Millbury. It’s essential that we help those who've already given us so much.
November 6, 2025 at 9:59 PM
There’s a special place in Hell for people who rip food away from hungry children.
November 5, 2025 at 9:10 PM
Trump just admitted that he’s weaponizing hunger—defying a court order & starving more than 40 million Americans (including 16 million CHILDREN) for sadistic political leverage.

This guy is sick in the head.
November 5, 2025 at 12:20 AM
Another shameless lie.

Trump’s own lawyers at USDA posted (then deleted) the guidance below that SNAP continues during a shutdown.

Can someone ask him to explain why he disagrees with Trump’s own lawyers?
November 4, 2025 at 6:28 PM
Republicans give every tax break & giveaway they can think of to greedy billionaires and then tell Americans we have to pick between food & healthcare. It’s a false choice and I reject it.
November 4, 2025 at 5:28 PM
While you’re struggling to put food on the table & pay for healthcare, Trump is focused on yet another home renovation project.

He’s auditioning for Property Brothers while you can’t pay your rent.
November 1, 2025 at 10:30 PM
People can't pay their bills. No one gives a f*** what your bathroom looks like.
November 1, 2025 at 5:20 PM
Fantastic to be in Athol for the groundbreaking of The Residences at the Park—a new affordable housing community.

I secured $1 million in federal funding for nonprofit NewVue to make this a reality.

Every American deserves affordable housing & projects like these make it happen.
