Speaker of the Oregon House. State Rep. for HD 14 (West Eugene, Veneta). Policy wonk.
Serving in the #orleg to get things done and make Oregonians' lives better.
(5/5) I will continue to work closely with our Senate colleagues and Gov. Kotek to chart a responsible path forward to keep Oregonians safe on their way to work and to school. #ORleg #ORpol

(4/5) With funding from the package now on hold for cities, counties, and the state, those cuts will become real. The Republican politicians behind the referral don’t have a backup plan. Transportation needs facing every corner of the state won’t fix themselves. #ORpol #ORleg

(3/5) State and local transportation agencies have made clear that without addl resources, they will be forced to make large cuts to their maintenance & safety work on our roads & bridges—meaning more potholes, fewer snowplows, and longer emergency response times. #ORpol #ORleg

(2/5) The referral of only pieces of that package—repealing funding while leaving spending obligations in place—destabilizes our transportation system and jeopardizes Oregonians’ safety. #ORleg #ORpol

(3/3) I'm grateful for the work of Homes for Good's dedicated staff, and for our conversation about how the legislature can continue to support housing stability and affordability. Every Oregonian deserves a safe place to call home, and that commitment drives my work every day. #ORleg #ORpol

(2/3) Homes for Good has been serving Lane Co for over 75 years, but their mission is more urgent than ever: to help low- and no-income residents navigate a path to safe, affordable housing. #ORleg #ORpol

(6/6) Oregon legislators will keep working to protect and strengthen the policies that lift children and families out of poverty. The data makes clear that our efforts matter. #ORleg #ORpol

(5/6) This shows what’s possible when we pair smart public policy with strong community partnerships. It's also a reminder that progress can be fragile—esp as we face Trump's Big Ugly Bill, threatening programs like SNAP & Medicaid that help families stay afloat. #ORleg #ORpol

(4/6) We also continued investing in health care, housing, food assistance, and early learning. These tools make a real difference, especially for our kids, because they put money back into the pockets of families who need it most. #ORleg #ORpol

(3/6) This progress reflects years of work by advocates, service providers, and lawmakers who understand that poverty is a policy choice. In recent sessions, #ORleg strengthened our state Child Tax Credit and expanded supports for families with low incomes. #ORpol

(2/6) One stat I am most excited to see is the continued decline in child poverty, falling from 21.6% in 2014 to 13% in 2024. This is a long-term shift that mean tens of thousands of children will have more stability, more opportunity, and a better start in life. #ORleg #ORpol

(3/3) Thanks to @agdanrayfield.bsky.social for his leadership and for ensuring Oregon doesn’t pay the price when the federal government breaks the law. #ORpol #ORleg

(2/3) As a result, our state has kept about $4.5 billion in fed funds, & spent a tiny fraction of that on legal costs. This has kept resources flowing to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence, OHSU research, and schools serving our most vulnerable kids. #ORpol #ORleg

(2/2) Our food & beverage manufacturers create local jobs, support family farms, anchor our supply chains, and help us all keep our dollars local. Many thanks to Onward Eugene for organizing a great event, and to Yogi Tea for hosting us at your beautiful facility!

(3/3) Still, I’m hopeful. Last month, when Trump withheld SNAP benefits, Oregonians rallied together to make sure no one went hungry. That spirit is guiding state leaders as we fight to protect essential services and build a stronger future for every Oregonian #ORleg #ORpol

(2/3) Over the next 6 years, the Republican bill cuts $15 billion in federal funding we need to pay for critical programs Oregonians rely on. This crisis threatens our K-12 schools, health care access, wildfire response, & programs that keep our neighborhoods safe

(4/4) I'm grateful to my fellow Democrats in the Oregon Legislature for standing up and saying not on our watch.

(3/4) Planned Parenthood clinics in other states have been forced to close their doors — here in Oregon, where we have a shortage of primary care providers and clinics, this would be devastating for the 70,000+ Oregonians who access care through Planned Parenthood

(2/4) In July, Republicans in Congress passed a budget bill that cut off federal funding to Planned Parenthood, including funding for cervical & breast cancer screenings, birth control access, and STI treatment. No other Medicaid provider was targeted in this way
