Ren has mixed feelings about her birthplace, Kugane. It still hurts to be in areas where she was bullied for being "too ijin" and all bystanders had walked by, pretending not to notice to avoid involvement. But she ultimately wants it and its streets to be safe, so she visits often to patrol.

The lotus, which is "ren/連/レン" in Hingan/Japanese. 🪷

Ren was born to nomadic parents trying to stay ahead of the Garlean occupation of Othard. They named her after the flower for the symbolism of strength, resilience, and rebirth, with hopes that she'll have a better life. (renevergreen.carrd.co)
