What made you make the decision to go from CDS onetrick in your earlier career to flex player? Thinking also about other onetricks who swapped to flex (in their role) like Nolan

It definitely matters in some cases, for me nautilus 47 is much better in sharking weapons and nautilus 79 is better into tent/bubble

I'm overanalyzing what is probably a pretty small complaint, but I care about the storyline part of esports, and totally, I agree that splatoon players don't give it enough attention. But that means that it's up to us to tell cool stories about the game
November 22, 2025 at 3:27 AM
I watch esports, and splatoon, because I like the storylines and because people being good at things is cool. In my original post I was looking for an example of a cool thing that happened so I could use it to tell a story about cool things that have happened in the past year. Sorry because I think
November 22, 2025 at 3:25 AM
it's the people watching and analyzing and interviewing that draw together the cool things that happen in the games to tell the storylines, but the basis of the storylines is just "cool things that happened." Cool things are happening even if there's a team called Chunky Milk in the finale
November 22, 2025 at 3:23 AM
I get that, but from my pov the things you listed don't actually change whether or not the storylines are there, they just make them slightly harder to identify. I could give you a lot of storylines for the upcoming SQ finale, even though there are players with weird IGNs or weird team names

Can I ask what about it baffles you? Lots of players have YouTube channels, and tourneys are streamed. Esports have been for both viewers and players for as long as I’ve been alive. Storylines in esports just arise from things that happen, they exist even if players aren’t public-facing

Probably going into more depth than I need but I don’t want it to seem like I was telling people to be assholes. I want players to have personality/branding, and I described that as “ego” in the sense of the very specific type of clip I was looking for in my original post
November 20, 2025 at 11:41 PM
my quote post was mostly a joke about how no one sent me any clips, thus no one said anything cool. All of the interviews we had this year were great, and it’s cool to get insights from players. I want players to hype themselves up, but of course they should do it respectfully
November 20, 2025 at 11:38 PM
I think the very relaxed interviews where players discuss experiences/plans/other things professionally are good, but there are also times when somwine saying “yeah I’m the goat” also makes a good interview. Both create storylines, and esports villains create hype
