Hits compilation “In Time: The Best of R.E.M. 1988–2003” was released this week in ‘03. It includes tracks from the band’s Warner Bros. yrs from 1988’s Green to 2001’s Reveal, as well as 2 new recordings (Bad Day & Animal) & 2 songs from movie soundtracks (The Great Beyond & All The Right Friends).

“Bittersweet Me” was released as the second single from New Adventures in Hi-Fi on this day in 1996 in the UK where it reached number 19 on the charts. The track was released a week later in the U.S. as the follow up single to “E-Bow The Letter.”
