Some cats also like climbing, but it's not ubiquitous. You can test out if this kitty likes climbing with a dead tree leaned against one of the platforms and add more climbing enrichment if it's popular.

From my experience with cats, platforms at a variety of heights have the widest appeal. Connecting them isn't super important as long as the distance between them or the distance to the ground is jumpable. Also usually the most popular platform will be the tallest one.

If one of the issues is that he's annoyed with the new puppy, you can try making a cat-only space in the house and block it off with a baby gate. Gives him a space to decompress away from the stressful puppy.

If it's revenge peeing, then you might want to ask your vet about gabapentin. It can help with your cat's anxiety when you can't necessarily address the root causes (loved one gone, new puppy, etc).
