Religion is politics of the unknown ☁️
The things you are liable to read 📖
in the Bible ain’t necessarily so 🔍
It’s a recipe for extremism 🇺🇸
A playbook for tyrants ✝️⚛️
I know we can do better✌️💙☮️

If everyone believed the same things she does based on the Bible it would be absolutely medieval

I got the better part of my education from such a school

Every year the professors pretended to believe in the historical existence of Adam and Eve and the infallible truth of the Bible

Nevertheless in every class the failures accumulated until Adam and Eve were only dusty archetypes and metaphors

How it started

How it’s going

If a man doesn’t believe in food stamps, takes them away, or votes for someone who does, it’s because he is an abuser who needs someone to control

And he will tell himself he deserves reparations for the control he has lost before he will admit reparations are deserved by those he controlled

And whose fault was that?

What can we say of a school where teachers swear on their intellectual integrities and their immortal souls to keep believing the same wrong things even after finding out they were wrong?

That is the definition of a religious school

It functions according to design

At least, it does to an extent

The jury didn’t fail

They refused

The prosecution failed and that’s why the jury refused

They already did that

That’s how we got here

Until secularists entered the conversation, the conversation around slavery was about evangelism, not emancipation

Once slavery was a hindrance to evangelism, then evangelists began to advocate emancipation

And that’s why today they are more likely to remember William Wilburforce than Thomas Paine

There is an old Greek saying which is applicable here

In the presence of human stupidity, even the gods stand helpless

And this is because they are little more than that themselves

Tax the rich

They can afford it

They’re tired of winning

‘Assimilate into Anglo-Protestant culture’ means ‘pretend the Crusades were a good thing and pretend the European Wars of Religion never happened’

He says queer folks are predators

But he’s the one who’s afraid of his children thinking for themselves

If a character in a story devises a fate worse than death it can only be because he gets off on it

Or, in other words, it makes him feel glorified

Is it possible that a being of almighty wisdom and power can’t get high without smoking some of his offspring?

People say this symbol has recently come to mean supremacy

But it always did

It stands for the idea all offenses will be forgiven to the loyal, to believers, that the only offense unforgivable is unbelief, and that, like it or not, one day everyone will admit it

And that’s what it meant all along

Is it possible that he’s proud of himself?

If what he means is he wants to lock his country into an eternal cycle of violence then he’s right

Well, he had him to Alaska where he should have had him arrested and he saluted him on a red carpet instead

That might as well have been a pardon

If Jesus wanted his followers to turn the other cheek when struck, he shouldn’t’ve said once he returned with power they were going to judge the world

If he wanted the rich to give their wealth to the poor he shouldn’t’ve said they’d always be with us until his return & that only he could help them

I agree

When Franklin said the tree of liberty was watered in the blood of tyrants and would need fresh watering every 20 years or so he could hardly have avoided thinking of Washington

Jesus prayed that his disciples be united

But if he didn’t want division, he shouldn’t have said he was coming back with a sword in his mouth to throw false prophets & whoever said he was one into hell

That was a self-fulfilling prophecy of religious civil war

And even in heaven it always will be
