Then they can delay and take their time all they damn want until it's ready for thousands of users punching their servers, both malicious and legitimate. You're insane if you think 2FA took >6 months.

I'd argue delaying a site until you get some form of secure auth implemented is a good thing. That being said, there's a bunch of guides and libs in almost every coding language out there, but there's a lot of specs you need to be compliant.
