Anthropic threw the kitchen sink at the media and their models as a means of pumping their products to raise this $30bn round and try and set up an IPO. They’re throwing everything in the furnace. The predictions will get more insane until the end.

Anthropic’s big burst of Claude Code revenue from December onward came at the cost of letting people set money on fire at a rate unseen in any industry in history. It is egregious and wasteful, it is getting worse not better, and eventually will exceed the available global funding.

In the last 24 hours I’ve read maybe 50 different people’s actual token burn cost on Claude Code. I’ve seen somebody on the $20 plan burning $145 and somebody on the $100 plan spending $812 worth. None of this is possible without infinite resources. And models mysteriously “get dumber” too.
