These are grass fed polled Herefords. Took this picture in our field a couple days ago. We have been in the beef cattle business for more than 30 years.

My neighbor is an Organic Valley dairy farmer (third generation dairy farm). Their cows go into the barn twice a day to get milked, the rest of the time they are out on the fields. Fields are rotated. They also do get silage - which is a nutrient rich semi-fermented grass.
