The first few pages of Shawn’s new project, “Stella Starchild In: The Youniversal Truth,” were received with overwhelming negativity from former Red Ring fans.

This public letter from Shawn, addressed to the anti-Shawn mockery forum “Friends of Switchy,” made his feelings clear.

Red Ring of Death #35, “Metroid Prime 2 Was The Best Metroid By Far,” circa 2006. One of Shawn’s first broad swipes at a contemporary webcomic artist, and certainly not the last. Some might call this a little mean spirited (including the cartoonist he targeted), but hey, funny is funny!

Red Ring of Death #34, “The Tanker Should Have Been The Whole Game,” circa 2006. Shawn weighing in on the very controversial Metal Gear Solid 2, in his typical hilarious fashion! Look out, Kojima!

The final two pages of Shawn Tuckley’s first initial batch of Stella Starchild pages.

After these pages were posted, Shawn received extensive feedback from his fanbase, which was overwhelmingly negative. The pages that follow will reflect that feedback.

Red Ring of Death #33, “Marriage: The Final Level,” circa 2006. So happy to share one of the most heartfelt and romantic strips in Red Ring’s run, in which Shawn finally popped the question to his girlfriend. No matter what her answer ended up being (no), this is still wonderful to look back on!

A misconception I would like to clear up: Shawn Tuckley did truly believe he was going to win the Presidency in 2012.

He believed it right up until this photo was taken, shortly after news outlets projected Barack Obama to be the winner of the 2012 Presidential election, 11/6/12.

Red Ring of Death #1,690, “One Nation, Under Shawn,” circa 2012. Released in the week before the 2012 Presidential election, this strip was Shawn’s last ditch effort to revitalize his crumbling bid for the Presidency. An incredible bit of history!

Red Ring of Death #32, “Great Success!!”, circa 2006. Shawn clearly loved the movie "Borat," as we all did, and showed his appreciation with this hilarious reference. 2006 feels like it was just yesterday!!

Red Ring of Death #31, “No Level Cap On Love,” circa 2006. A historically important strip, this was the first (and certainly not the last) time Shawn’s polyamorous views would make itself known in the strip. A fascinating look into the inner life of one of this generation's greatest artists.

Red Ring of Death #30, “Justice Is Served,” circa 2006. Catching up on notorious lawyer Jack Thompson after he was murdered in RRoD #26, this strip also serves as a haunting prequel to the "Switchy on Trial" storyline.

Gamers should never forget what Jack Thompson did to our community!

Another Shawn Tuckley T-shirt design, quickly discontinued due to threats of litigation from Nintendo.
August 10, 2025 at 8:41 PM
Red Ring of Death #29, “Em-Oh No!,” circa 2006. Considering the overwhelming popularity of "emo" rock music at the time of publication, Shawn's outspoken denunciation of it was nothing short of brave!
August 5, 2025 at 4:18 PM
Red Ring of Death #118, “Don’t You Wish? Vol. 5,” circa 2007. A hilarious joke at the expense of so called “chick flicks” that many of us guys have had to sit through! A fun reminder of Shawn’s incredible cartooning talents at his peak.
July 29, 2025 at 2:33 PM
Red Ring of Death #472, “Hail to the Chief,” circa 2008. You can really see the gears turning in Shawn's head here, as it wouldn't be much longer before his political ambitions fully came to the forefront.
July 14, 2025 at 4:55 PM
Red Ring of Death #28, “It’s About Fucking Time.”, circa 2006. The first (and certainly not the last) strip to focus on Shawn’s long-held animosity towards former Attack of the Show host Kevin Pereira, along with his uncomfortable obsession with Olivia Munn.

Shawn Tuckley campaign poster for the Libertarian Party nomination for President, circa 2011.

The second page of “Stella Starchild in: The Youniversal Truth,” circa 2014. Many diehard Red Ring fans found this strip confusing, hard to read, and lacking in gaming content, critiques that would follow this project for its entire run. Still, you can’t deny Shawn’s ambition here.
July 5, 2025 at 3:34 PM
Red Ring of Death #27, “I Need To Take A Wii,” circa 2006. People tend to forget how strange the name "Wii" sounded back when it was first announced. What a fun trip down memory lane!
July 1, 2025 at 12:55 PM
Page 1 of Stella Starchild In: The Youniversal Truth, circa 2014. Shawn refused to put page numbers or his signature on the strip, believing that it would harm the artistic purity of the work.
June 7, 2025 at 4:29 PM
Red Ring of Death #26, “A Family Dinner,” circa 2006. From what I can tell, this is the first appearance of notorious anti-gaming lawyer Jack Thompson, who would be a constant target of Shawn’s ire over the next decade.

Another photo of Shawn Tuckley posing with Stella.

There are other photos, but considering their content, I will not be posting them for the sake of Shawn’s public reputation.

Found some photos of Shawn Tuckley posing with some Stella Starchild art. I will post any I find interesting.

I feel reticent to post these, since I know Shawn & his legal team would not be happy with them being made public. But I believe they are a compelling window into Shawn’s mind at the time.
May 21, 2025 at 6:29 PM
A week after this promotional image was posted, Shawn then posted this “letter”, seemingly addressed to the fictional character Stella Starchild. It gives an interesting, if somewhat concerning, glimpse into Shawn’s mind & his feelings about this new character.
May 16, 2025 at 4:34 PM
Red Ring of Death #3,889, “All Dead.. All Dead..”, circa 2015. The final of Shawn’s Ouya-related strips, released right after the system was discontinued and Julie Uhrman left the company. I don’t love posting “Dark Ages”-era strips, but feel it was necessary here.
May 14, 2025 at 3:05 PM
After posting the “final” Red Ring of Death strip in late 2013, Shawn Tuckley quiet for weeks.

And then, much to the shock of his fanbase, Shawn returned by posting the following image to his Twitter account announcing a new project entitled “Stella Starchild In: The Youniversal Truth”
