Safe standing at football eliminates one huge problem for the seated fan - when is an incident on the pitch worthy of standing up?

The view from the safe standing area in the North Stand.
Coincidentally, it's the same view as from the unsafe standing area we called the open end in the 1960s.

One memory of the 70s was Wednesday 9th Feb 1972.
School closed at lunchtime due to power cuts. The FA Cup replay #lufc v Liverpool was a 1pm kick off as using floodlights was forbidden.
Don't think my Leeds supporting maths teacher's Morris 1000 had ever travelled as fast out of the school gates.

My brother had a 1965 Mini Cooper S in 1975.
Its consumption of 5 star lead packed petrol was so high, around 25 mpg, that it had to have an extra fuel tank on the other side of the car.
Fortunately, it hardly ever started.

Nostalgia is remembering the endless summer of 1976 but completely forgetting travelling in cars with vinyl seats and no air conditioning.

51 (Fifty One) years ago tonight. Adjusted for inflation, the price is £14.50 today.
A bargain for those who like Queen, not for those of us who don't.

Entirely unscientific but it seems to be less poppy heavy round here this year.
I'll wear one on Sunday not before.
