I always thought it was related to rugby. When I was a kid, here in the US, we used to play what we called Irish Football which is rugby like but the closest thing I could think of to American football and since there was big migration from Ireland here about the time I thought perhaps it was that.

No, sorry, I was just joking :) I really don't know why they ended up calling it that. I just did a quick search and the article suggested that it goes way back to the Middle Ages when it was a sport played on foot rather than horseback. Seems a bit of a stretch but who knows.

We just started growing that a couple years ago as it is totally disease and bug resistant here. Our regular summer squash and zucchini gets destroyed now.

Fuck the USA. We have become a shithole country and I'm very sorry about it especially for Ukraine. The EU needs to step up and end this war in Ukraine by, at least, supplying the AFU with absolutely everything they need to push the barbarian back to Ruzzia and enter Ukraine into NATO.
