Anarchist "exuberant." Really into exploring the roots of things and expanding degrees of freedom. Incurable woke moralist. Floating metal sphere. “Radically uncool.”

Here's what the Pilgrims at Plymouth were “thankful” about. They were grateful for plague and plunder. Dead bodies, those lost to disease, and those they killed became useful in devious ways. (link: logicmag.io/issue-21-med...)

Oh yeah, kinda par for the course stuff in that milieu. He's one of the less extreme, more respectable, academic folks. But yeah.

As a person, he seems fine, he's a quaker with okay politics, as a musician, meh not my tea, but everyone educated or culturally advanced dislikes him and it's worth remembering that he's wildly popular with a huge demographic that most of us never encounter. Hence the comparison re chatgpt

Shit looks like this:

Anyway I have these notes just filled with things like:

Hitler attacked the Jews for focusing on “the mass of numbers and their dead weight.”

Mbembe’s FIDEMO got launched with 50 million euro in funding from Macron and pivoted to apologia for continued French colonial power.

A lot of content that was *implicitly* addressed amid other things I didn't bother to address explicitly. Here's an example:

More sad are lengthy digressions on philosophy inside baseball like the base rate fallacy, which I managed to *functionally* cover in the main text and thus avoided having to drag out the literature and another whole cast of characters.

Also I had some dunking on Dawkins, but he's so crude and inane it's like shooting fish in a barrel and you're lowered by the effort.

Oh! Also! I cut a massive amount of stuff on race pseudoscience, because the core philosophical points I wanted to make were handled by my in depth critiques of the TERFs.

But like it matters how Yudkowsky gets quoted by James Goulding in Races are Clusters in DNA Space...

Oh, btw here's Chomsky being Kantian:

“If we’re organisms, our cognitive capacities are like all biological capacities. They have scope and limits. There are some things that are simply beyond our limits–like the nature of the world.”
– Noam Chomsky, interview with Errol Morris, in The Ashtray

Similarly there was more dunking on folks in the broad pomo camp that got cut, like how Francois Cusset sneers that America corrupted Foucault and Derrida by mixing in multiculturalism and feminism.
