This is the first I'm hearing about the Ink & Dagger reunion. I had a few of their records and saw them in Atlanta in the late '90s. Going to have to revisit some of their music and see if it still holds up!

Thank you for this article — it expresses what so many of us have been feeling.

(As an aside, I couldn't find where to report this to the editors, but is there a typo or missing word in this sentence? "Kirk was smart enough to ask his father for a check when wanted to found Turning Point.")

Does Buzzsprout give you a list of places where they distribute your show, and give you the option to opt out of particular ones? That's how it is with most of the music distributors — not sure about the podcast equivalent.

Wouldn't hurt, though, of course.

If you're interested in scheduling the machine for inspection, we'd be glad to help you out! Here's our intake form: recdel.com/intake

I demagnetize each unit that comes through as part of routine maintenance, but the cassette usually does not succumb to the same magnetization issues as 2" tape and other similar formats. I don't know that I've ever repaired a machine where demagnetization solved a particular problem.

Based on the "new releases," this ad is from 1979 or 1980. Apparently Nashvillians were paying $39 in 2025 dollars to rent a movie for 24 hours? 😳 (And yes, there's gotta be some kind of typos in those blank tape prices!)

My first hunch is a bad cassette, as I've heard that same kind of popping before. From the angle of the camera, I'm having a hard time making out the brand — Radio Shack? I'd suggest trying another brand of cassette if you have one on hand, and let us know if the problem is still happening.

Next time you do one of these, please consider cross-streaming the event to a service that doesn't require a login. (YouTube, perhaps?) Some of us don't have Tiktok accounts by choice, and it was a shame to have no way to watch.

Okay, but *where* do we tune in?

Is there a website where voters can find out what is on the ballot for the 8/26 election?

Just checked and Interestingly, it's wrong on Spotify, Tidal and Apple Music, but correct on Qobuz (which is what I use). Odd, since they all likely got the audio and metadata from your (one) distributor — right?

What is the brand/model of the CD player? I operate a business repairing 4-track cassette recorders, so I have accumulated a number of good sources for finding rare service manuals. I may — I stress may — be able to track down the manual for you, if there is one.

What kind of chairs are those in the Miniplex? Are the drink holders attached?

Really appreciated this. My grandmother came to the USA from Tipperary as a teenager, alone, under very similar circumstances, so your article especially resonated with me.

I was living in Portland then. I wonder where I was that night when I obviously should have been at this show!

How do you feel about using previously-used Type II tapes? I have a few places where I source previously-recorded Type IIs in good quantities — including many Maxell XLII — which I then fully FW in each direction and run over my industrial bulk-eraser. Like new! (In my opinion, at least. 😁)

Do you generally use Type I tapes instead of Type II, or was this just a investigative shootout? In your opinion, does the sound quality of the RTM tape justify its cost vs other options?

Also, too few unnecessary quotation marks.
