It seems the administration preemptively fired any who would push back for sure.

I disagree. Active duty service members have often become whistleblowers or reported war crimes or other criminality and testified in court or court martial. In fact, this disclosure of the “double tap” came from people familiar with the inside special op - very likely active duty service members.

I wonder what Duterte is up to these days.

Agree! I think most Americans think all taxes are “income” tax. They don’t understand the richest people and corporations don’t rely on wages or “ordinary” income and have a million ways to maintain untaxed wealth.

When we talk about high earners, we’re still talking about taxes on ordinary income with minimal deductions.
Billionaires aren’t getting their cash flow from ordinary income. It’s corp and LLC pass thru/extravagant business deductions, subsidies. High earners pay the highest rates already.

Ya know, I get that sentiment 💯. I also think it’s pro-good cause when a politician publicly pushes back by word and deed against this kind of nastiness.

Interestingly, in our old house, our living room floor was oak except the center area, about 8’x10’, was pine. I thought it was just a bad repair, but an old house guy we hired said they were built that way to save money since people always put a big rug down and it wouldn’t show.

The good news is that you can still buy quarter sawn oak in case you need repairs.

I had a house in Indiana built in 1874 with the narrow planks like yours and it was quarter sawn oak. Most of flooring was at that time bc it’s so durable. If the grain is mostly straight with flecks and you don’t see a lot of the typical oak circular grain pattern, it’s probably quarter sawn.

Still, it’s addition by subtraction.

Looks like quarter sawn oak

Airports are crowded. A lot of walking and standing. You have to finagle baggage. Aircraft seating is claustrophobic and gives little room to reposition. Delays after boarding are very common. You may be redirected and deplaned or delayed for hours or overnight. People should dress accordingly.

All orders are presumed to be legal unless it’s obvious they’re not. Like killing unarmed civilians. Service members are required by UCMJ to refuse illegal orders just as they are required to obey legal orders.

All I could discern was something about of course it was partisan, not racist, because it was intended to favor republicans.

Gross. She thinks people should feel good after leaving the museum that documents the holocaust that is foundational to American history.

I think Vance staying arms length away from Trump’s most vulnerable issues says something about the backup strategy. Vance will end up pardoning Trump in the end.

And I believe Trump already has secret pardons written/signed and ready to go, holding them over the head of his co-conspirators.

I tried to read it too and the writing was so tortured I couldn’t finish. Terrible. She should write vampire novels.
