Earlier I was going back & forth with a Leftist. Dude's angry he won't fire the current NYPD commissioner. I'm like bro, he's trying to be pragmatic and maintain order. If he fired Jessica Tisch, there would be a disorder. This kinda stuff feeds right to the Republican media machine.

I get the frustration, but a mayor doesn’t have unilateral power. Even the most progressive one still has to deal with Albany, the city council, unions, budgets, and legal limits. Mamdani can push for change, but he can’t do Trump-style purges. The job just doesn’t work like that.

If you want Mamdani to succeed, you should want him to make practical decisions, not symbolic ones. He needs the NYPD to function while he brings in new leadership or pushes reforms. You can’t dismantle an entire department overnight.

I’m not defending Nazis here. I’m explaining the historical context: NATO used some ex-Nazi personnel because of Cold War realpolitik, not because they supported Nazism. That’s not apologia — that’s just how the early Cold War unfolded. Bro go learn about the Cold War from legit historians.
