Ahh that is a lovely recollection. Barnsley Odeon was a lovely cinema, have fond memories watching a variety of films. The first time I visited was with my Mam at around age 4 to watch Winnie The Pooh 😊 I'm originally from Cudworth, but left 37 years ago. I still refer to Barnsley though as home ❤️

This is great Barry, well spotted & thanks for sharing. I will take a look. I have had an ongoing interest in "The Profumo Affair" for many years and try to read all the relevant books on this subject. I find it really interesting.

That's such a great read too (but maybe I'm a little biased ) 😂 I'm sure if you haven't read, you will have seen the film or even the TV adaptation maybe from 1982? I'm there too with you ... I have trouble remembering which books I have read & what I was doing last week, most days 😂

I think many did read in their teenage years, those I know did. I re-read it around 6 months ago, now at the age of 56. It's so nice revisiting old reads again. Sometimes just to see how we feel about the characters later in life compared to our younger selves.

It's a great read as with all Nell Dunn's books. It was the first one I read by her when I was 16, a very, very long time ago too 😃 I'm sure if you began reading again, you would become familiar with storyline again straight away 😊

So because of my admiration of Nell Dunn's writing, also for Ken Loach's films, the getting together of my Mam & Dad & of course my Dad's birthday, I will be publishing an article next Friday that I wrote a few months ago, in celebration of both the book & film.
