There were Black players in college football long before then. For instance, Michigan and Northwestern play for a trophy named for George Jewett, who played at UM in 1890 and later at Northwestern.

Yes. And the Michigan State teams of the mid-1960s were the original integrated juggernauts. Hugely influential:

As part of the House antitrust lawsuit settlement, colleges can directly share athletic revenue with athletes for the first time as of this year. Total rev-share permitted per school for all sports is $20.5M, and it will go up slightly in the coming years.
