“Sil! Can I go with?” Powder asks, latching herself onto Silco’s leg like some sort of deep sea creature. How the little girl moves so fast, Silco will never know. What he does know, however, is that he’s weak when she gives him that look with massive eyes and a little pout. The other three seem perfectly content to sit at the counter with Vander making lunch for them and it has been a while since Silco and Powder have gotten some one-on-one time… “Oh, alright,” Silco sighs, patting her on the head. “We’ll pick up some lunch for us at Jericho’s, how does that sound?” “Yes!” she squeals, pumping her fist in the air.

Vander digs through the cabinet before he pulls out a little tin. One he recognizes. Silco would curl up with it in one of their armchairs during late night planning meetings, just listening to Felicia and Connol rattle off about what they heard in the mines while he mended some item or another. “Where d’you hide that thing, doll? Up your ass?” Vander joked once after everyone left and they were alone. Silco glared at him then, needle held aloft in his dainty fingers with one of Vander’s shirts in his lap. “I can just as quickly destroy your clothes as I can mend them, Vander.” The larger man just laughed at that, holding his hands up in surrender. “Sorry, sorry, don’t destroy my good shirt. Y’jus’ keep it so well-hidden.” “It’s so that you don’t ruin my needles with your massive paws,” Silco snarked.

The fact that /Violet/, out of all four of the kids, is crying when Vander hears the door open one afternoon is turning his head.
