I found it interesting how almost every point here (except for the last about delegating) is just as applicable to technical leads that choose not to go down the management track.

He had one good idea, and even that one was arguably poorly executed in the long run. Every other thing that company has was bought.

Why is this tiny gesture so funny

Saying this as a data scientist that uses LLMs daily, but still hand-types every letter of every example from new books/courses I work through just to develop the muscle memory.

If you still have an in-person test for midterms and finals, you could always weight them heavily and discount the assignments.

You can LLM you way through an assignment easily, but if you don’t learn the material, you pay for it later.

Just started your series and listened to this episode. Can’t praise it enough: it was funny, infuriating and captivating at all once. Really great work.

And how many of those years was it considered the cultural centre of Canada, compared to Montreal?

I get the sense that Toronto is just “young” and only started to come into its own culturally over the last few decades. The people I’ve met that lived there in the 70s/80s said that it’s unrecognizable today.

I’d be surprised if we didn’t see something big come out of it in the next 20 years.
