And to achieve what? Even if there's a temporary and localized affect on crime stats, then what when they eventually leave? Complete waste of money, resources, time. And serving only to ruin relationships between levels of government.

Good point. See my post about the ‘grassroots’ structures here in Canada that give us a very big pool of talent that improves PWR.

We also have good regional/provincial rep rugby in areas giving girls a taste of the next level, enticing them to choose it over the other sports they likely played as kids/teens. I think top players should be paid but grassroots structures also need development to create great adults.

I hope they look deeply because what Canada benefits from, despite lack of funding, is a) massive numbers of teenage girls playing (usually 15s) from Van Isl to Nfld and b) a very strong university system where a large number of 18-22(+) year olds are training daily from Aug-Mar in 15s and 7s

I am a lowly amateur ref but reckon assessing materiality is too taxing, so much going on, impossible to be consistent. Would we enjoy games more in line with letter of the laws though? Would it be better if ARs had more power to make certain calls like ref teams in basketball and ice hockey?

There’s always some useful things in there! A hutch maybe? Holds a bunch of old things that maybe look nice and can be useful once or twice a year, though really shouldn’t have been acquired in the first place because the experienced items do a fine job on a daily basis.

I had to look it up. 😁 Just Alesana Tuilagi, but Tusi and George Pisi. I think there have been matches where three brothers played? But which match had the most sets of brothers in the 22/23 would be a great trivia question. Could even get brothers on opposing teams!
